The book in question may well be a hoax - but that does not mean they all are.
May I suggest some "open-minded" research on the subject.

Evidence of life after death?
by little_Socrates inhttp://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/life-after-death-largestever-study-provides-evidence-that-out-of-body-and-neardeath-experiences-may-actually-be-real-9780195.html.
"experts currently believe that the brain shuts down within 20 to 30 seconds of the heart stopping beating and that it is not possible to be aware of anything at all once that has happened.. but scientists in the new study heard said they heard compelling evidence that patients experienced real events for up to three minutes after this had happened and could recall them accurately once they had been resuscitated.".
how are people having "experinces" while there is no evidence of heart or brain activity?.

A good book on the subject is Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander.
He is a neurosurgeon and was not a believer of NDEs - until he had one.
His experience was exceptional in that they had him hooked up to every monitoring device imaginable and zero brain activity was proven - and yet he was off somewhere else having an experience he describes as hyper reality - more real than what we currently experience.
I for one believe them to be real experiences - their are just too many of these NDEs happening for it to be easily dismissed.

PART TWO of AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE BY A PRACTICING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by Sparks inwhile you are sitting there reading this, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young males and females all over the world [ mostly in america / canada and england] sitting in their grotty little smelly bedrooms or flats, designing computer viruses that they will up-load onto web-sites to cause anonymous innocent peoples computers to malfunction.
these creeps spend literally weeks, months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.

An important message from a PRACTICING Jehovah's witness
by Sparks inhi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.

Bad news Sparks - you have broken direct guidance and direction from the FDS by being here.
I was an elder when I started coming here and tried defending the WTBTS at first but when all is considered the whole thing collapses.
I resigned as an elder - last meeting was March 2009 - Mrs Scotsman followed me out 6 months later and neither of us have looked back.
To be honest I am glad you are here - you are obviously questioning "something" about the whole JW/WTBTS belief structure.

My wife was talking to one of her neice's the other week who still goes to meetings. She was part of a group of 6 young sisters who hung out together, went out in ministry together, sat next to each other at the assemblies etc etc.
Anyway it transpires that one of the 6 revealed that she had been doing external research of the org and was stopping attending meetings.
Fast forward 6 months - my wifes niece is the only one still attending - and even she is beginning to look like a free thinking adult.I am cautious to get overly excited at the JW.ORG demise - but you know what - I think we may be at a turning point.
